I snapped this pic on our drive home from our 4 day camping trip this past weekend which was so much fun. I have heaps and heaps of photos to sort through so a post will most definitely be on its way. My burly Jared looking handsome even after 4 days in the bush.
Anywho...speaking of Jared, I just have to brag for a moment about what a great person he is. No, he's not sitting next to me, he's actually not home, so this post will be news to him.
Last week was...what's the right word?? uhh, poopy! Maybe that's not the right word, but I am going to run with it. I was feeling overloaded with so many things that needed to be done. I was feeling like there wasn't enough time to do it all and that my plate was feeling like it was spilling over. I had taken on too much, Jared had as well, we were both feeling the weight. Bad news came our way, which is never fun. I was struggling and feeling overwhelmed with a few issues that my kids were having to deal with and I was trying to understand how I could help them. Our car decided to stop working that morning, luckily it was a quick fix by the mechanic. I was feeling sad, and when I am sad I cry..I know, imagine that...sad & crying going together...yep, it usually does. I am the type of person that tries to hold it together and only show my sadness in the comfort of my own home. Well my sister called me and was wondering how a Dr. appointment had gone and we were chatting and I was biting my quivering lip as we talked. All of a sudden I felt a rush of emotion come over me as I thought about everything that was happening and everything that I needed to get done and organized and accomplished in the next few months and suddenly I felt myself crumble. I sobbed, my sister listened and gave me all the great advice that an older sister gives and she comforted me 15,000 miles away.
When I got off the phone Jack was there by my side and he said, "mommy kying {crying}, it's ok mommy, daddy coming back." Apparently that is what he tells all the kids in nursery at church when they are crying. That is what his teacher told me. Tender boy! I love him so much!
So..Jared...I know he was feeling some of the weight right along side me. I had talked to him during the day and the night before just telling him my thoughts and how I was feeling about some of the issues we needed to deal with, all the stuff we needed to do {most of it is good stuff..just a lot coming up in the next few months}. So I have known Jared for almost 14 years and so I know him, how he reacts and how he handles things. He is a really great example to me. He ALWAYS looks for the positive..sometimes when I can't see it, he finds it, helps me see it, and helps me keep my chin up. I love that about him. I got a text from him that afternoon with a beautiful poem about sticking to it and knowing that things will get better. It was just what I needed. He usually seems to know what I need and he is reassuring me that it is all going to be fine. Things will work out, things will get accomplished, even when the list seems way too long and the elephant seems way too massive to even start eating, it will all come together. The kids will be fine and all my worries and concerns will be taken care of because I am doing the best I can.
The good thing about having a sob your face off on the phone, have to answer the front door with massive red puffy eyes to give the mechanic the keys to your car kind of day is that I know that tomorrow is another day and that it is going to be a better one. The sun will come up...looking in the mirror might be a scary sight after a good day of tears, but that's alright.
{I snapped this pic of Jared on his way out the door to work this morning}
I am grateful for him and all that he does for me....truly!
