swimming with the ducks & peach pickin

We had a fun day yesterday. Lucy had her 4 month appointment and she is a whopping 15 lbs. 13.5 oz. & 26.5 in. She off the charts in both weight & height. Every time I get her from her nap, I swear she has grown. She has lots of adorable rolls of lovable chub. After the Dr. appointment Alivia had a back to school open house for preschool. We had about a half hour before it was to start so we went to the park. There were probably 50 ducks out on the lawn so Rex & Alivia started following them. We walked over to a big pond and most of the ducks climbed in....so did Livi. She slipped on the grass and went skidding right on in with the ducks all the way up to her chest. She quickly stood up & said, "I wanted to go swimming with the duckies." Jared was in the car with Lucy (she was asleep) so he saw Liv go in the water. He said that one minute she was standing by the water & the next minute she disappeared. The kids & I ran back to the car, we could see Jared just laughing. We had about 10 minutes before her open house was to start so we stripped off her smelly, duck poopie, wet clothes and drove to Old Navy. It was closer to go there then to drive 15 minutes back to our house. I ran into Old Navy and scanned the clearance rack. I got her some clearance summer clothes for a few $ and ran back to the car. We were only a few minutes late to meet her teacher. It was a pretty funny morning.
Alivia is starting preschool at Initiative Learning Center again this year. She has a different teacher named Mrs. Nelson. Many of the kids from last year are in her class again so she was VERY excited to see them. She will be attending 3 days a week instead of 2. We have loved this school and are so happy that we found it when we moved here. I have met so many great moms and they were so helpful when Lucy was born. We have been able to get together a few times during the summer. They are always so great to us. Mrs. Nelson teaches a Nursery School fopr 3-4 year olds. You have to be 3 by Sept. 1st but Mrs. Nelson said that since Rex misses the date by 22 days, he could probably join the class in January because she has one morning class that isn't as full. I know he would really love it.
Later that afternoon we went to the Stake orchard. It is located off a street called Chicken Dinner Road. Hilarious. You can go pick peaches to buy and to pick for distribution or you can take any of the peaches that have fallen on the ground for free. The kids had a great time collecting peaches off the ground (A lot of them were in perfect condition). They also picked the peaches off the branches close to the ground. Rex & Livi said over & over again, "This is so fun!" You can buy a bushel for $10....more then enough peaches. We came home with about 25 lbs of peaches, most of them from the ground. The kids had fun washing them and watching me cut them up. We made several jars of jam & froze the rest. Rex & Liv thought the whole process of picking the peaches, washing them & turning them into jam was just the greatest thing ever. The kids took a bath because they said they were covered in peach itch. The fuzz on the peaches made them itch. It was a fun day. We always enjoy Jared's day off.
