beach dude by day geek by night

Shelly beach is a great beach (it is near Manly beach).  A family from the U.S. moved over here a few months ago and they live a few minutes from this beach and they invited us out for a beach day.  Garrett & Jared work in the same building and his wife Bridgette is from Nampa, Idaho where we used to live.  We had a great time.  Cute little Lucy had fun on the body board.

It was rainy so we all had our wet suits on.  Jared & Garrett swam out and snorkeled to an area where a huge fish named George hangs out.  You can see their arms in the photo as they are swimming back to shore.

The kids had fun climbing the rocks and looking for water dragons.  They found one.

Rex had fun out in the water..not many waves to ride but he had fun kicking around and making me nervous as he got further and further out into the great big blue.

I felt better when he came back to shore.

After the beach we went back to the Helmer's house for homemade pizza.  The Wixom's and Pickett's were there as well (another family from the U.S. who have been here a few  months).  It was fun getting to know them and letting the kids run wild.

Later that night we had a 30th birthday party for our friend.  The girls were supposed to dress up and the boys were supposed to be geeks.  I think Jared & Wes did a great job getting in touch with their geek side. :)

Some of the men getting their geek on.  The theme was from the show The Big Bang Theory.  We ate Chinese take out in boxes, played games and talked.  It was a fun night.

Jared (the 30 year old birthday we were celebrating) is the one on the right dressed as Sheldon from The Big Band Theory.  Bazinga!!
